Why and How to backup
yeah i keeps it reals with backups, but over the years i’ve learned a couple of things about backups, so here are my 2 top tips for backup awesomeness, yes i dont need a top 10, its backups… wtf:
1. Keep it Small, yeah you heard me! you don’t need every little data on your multi TB hello kitty laptop (same rules for smartphones, tablets and whatnot), make priorities, if you keep it small its way easier to backup, its way easier to retrieve its way easier to avoid the corruption monster!, I would say keep it the size of a basic usb pen 16GB! anything more than that! you have to put it aside! if you cant keep you precious digital stuff below 16GB uhhh then when the zombie apocalypse hits you’ll be the first one to go, haling all those hard drives filled with stuff you will never have time to revisit!
3. Keep it Simple Stupid! yeah stupid! backups should be simple, should be automatic and they should be plentiful, make a backup to a pen drive, yep you can use a sync software or just copy that shit up, use dropbox or whatever web sync/backup you like, burn it on DVD’s just make sure you have plenty and that they are easy to retrieve, do it often, put it on the calendar, but make it simple stupid todo, put the pen – copy – re-write!did i answer the why and how? muhahaha ^_^’
