My must have android apps!
Firefox – Great Browser on Android, it has the best mix of speed, stability and interface.
Flipboard – Super simple and fun News Reader, great to quickly check the news.
Google Translate – Now with offline-mode, its a perfect translator/dictionary!
Nova Launcher – My default Home Launcher, full featured and really light and fast.
Pocket – This is a sort of article archiving app, so what you pocket gets downloaded into your android to read later, so you always have interesting stuff to read when you are offline.
QuickPic – This is a gallery replacement, super small, super fast, super useful what more do you want!
Skype – Its ok, but i still don’t have a default voip app, so skype is installed for the occasional conversation ie everyone has skype…
X-plore – Excellent File Manager, good for moving files from the pc to the android or to put files on the cloud.
Note Everything – Simple and practical note taking app.
YouTube – Although i do have flash support, youtube is everyone and having the youtube app makes watching youtube videos more smooth.
Flash – Yes Adobe dropped flash support for Android i still do install the plugin, its still super useful ^_^.oO(ill drop it when a security issue pops up)
Apps i stay away
Instragram – No point and its another network to support, why?
Facebook – Unfortunately its too heavy on the system and on traffic, its always working always crashing, feels like a spying app, constantly connecting!
Facebook Messenger – Its the ligher version of the same problem of the main Facebook app, compared with most other voip/messenger apps its huge! skype is slow and unstable but its still lighter than facebook messenger.
Google + – A dead on arrival network, besides they can kill your Google Account for using it, skip.
Google Hangouts – Not opensource and not compatible, i have Google Talk frozen just in case, no point!
Viber – Looks awesome but i dont trust them (taking my contacts and dont know if my conversations are private).
WhatsApp – Its free the first year, but it feels like its just a scam to make you get used to it and then you have to pay to keep using it.
Dropbox – Pretty much useless, its not full featured and its clunky and heavy.
